Façade & Signage

Façade & Signage Improvement:
  • We have had a part in almost every downtown Emporium facade or signage project, in varying degrees. We have designed, painted, consulted, partnered, and/or paid for most of the projects you see in the downtown.
  • Coming in 2018 will be a full-blown downtown facade project, encompassing seven buildings and storefronts. Stay tuned!

Nolder's Barbershop:

  • In 2009, we completed our very first façade improvement project. “Ed’s Barbershop”, owned and operated by Ed Nolder of Emporium, was the recipient of a small grant that enabled the project to be completed. After prepping the building, a fresh coat of paint, a new sign, a new bench and flowers, and a vintage barber pole [that once hung on the front of Lynn Kriner's barbershop ] has given the building a bright new look. This was truly a ‘hands on ‘ project, and the SHC would like to thank those who donated their time and expertise ; L & M Lumber Supply, South Park Supply, Randy Bailey, Michelle & Rick Clark, Cliff & Eugenia Clark, Dana Crisp, Randy Frey, Jeanmare Holjencin, Linda Lundberg, Brian & Chrissy Slusarik, and Matt & Nancy Zoschg

My Place:

  • The painting of 'My Place" was another hands on project for our group. A new sign and the painting of the building were a result of a partnership between the Sylvan Heritage Council and owner Heather Hahn.  We would like to thank those who donated their time on this project; South Park Supply, Dick Lewis, Randy Bailey, Michelle Clark, Chrissy Slusarick, Wendy & Brian Goulding, Dana Crisp, Shannon Crisp, Nick Crisp, owner Heather Hahn and volunteer Desiree Cummings.

K of C:

  • In 2010, we partnered with the K of C to repaint this building on South Broad Street.

Cappy's Clothes:

  • We partnered with the owner of Cappy's Clothes to repaint this store front in 2011.
