The Sylvan Heritage Council
“Making our hometown more beautiful – one lasting project at a time.”

Beautification

Beautification:
  • The hallmark of our organization is community beautification. Take a look at some of our most prominent projects . . .

Welcome to Emporium Signs:

  • One of our first projects was to replace the weathered Welcome to Emporium signs at the east and west ends of town and professionally landscape both areas.  We have adopted these areas and will continue to maintain them for years to come.

Landscaping:

  • In conjunction with the Northern Tier Community Action Corporation, we recently applied for and received a grant to landscape the front and west-facing sides of the beautiful and historic Northern Tier Community Action Corporation building. The project was financed in part by the PA Wilds Planning Team, with a C2P2 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation. Kane Lawn & Garden, of Kane, PA completed the work at the end of May, 2016.
Courthouse Benches & Planters:
  • In the spring of 2015, we partnered with the County of Cameron to purchase Pennsylvania-made stately iron benches and planters to grace the veranda of the Cameron County Courthouse

East End Triangle:
  • This landscaping project at the intersection of Routes 120 and 155 was completed in November 2012.  Headed by Randy Bailey, the area was cleared of old shrubs, railroad beams and plants. The end result is a new retaining wall, tidy shrubbery and other plantings, and fresh mulch.
Erie Triangle:
  • In cooperation with the  Straub Insurance Agency, we hauled out the old tattered shrubs and grass and installed a new professional sign and plantings to define the area.

 Chalkboard Signs:

  • We have provided businesses with quaint sidewalk chalkboard signs and Open flags, where appropriate.
